  2. Space your meals out by at least 2.5 to 3 hours. You should give your body ample time to completely digest its food from the previous meal before you eat your next meal.
  3. You are required to take a 3-day break from your diet every 12th through 14th days. This will give your body a chance to rest from the rapid weight loss you will be undergoing.
  4. You must eat four meals a day according to the calorie shifting diet's personalized meal planner.

Here is a sample diet plan that illustrates how this diet works. The diet actually is designed to work in 11-day cycles, but only 3 days are shown here for brevity. Keep in mind that you can eat your four daily meals in any order you want during each respective day.

Frozen Diet Meals - A Simple Review!

Eating nutritional meals while dieting and leading a busy life can be hard. I have recently gotten into the habit of buying a bunch of "diet" frozen dinners and taking them to work. A quick microwave and I am back at my desk with something that is good for me and filling. So I thought I would review a couple of the ones that I have been munching on in case you have been thinking about doing the same. So let's start with the Weight Watchers Smart Ones. Honestly I tried these because they were the cheapest brand on average I could find. They have a good selection under at my location and then some around .50. So I could spend about for a full week when at a restaurant I would be lucky to get a single meal and a fast food restaurant I could stretch that to two days if I worked at it a little. So I have tried all of the cheaper ones and some of the next level.

On the cheap I would have to say I am addicted to the Smart Ones Creamy Rigatoni with Broccoli & Chicken. Something about the sauce has me licking the bowl when I am done. It has 290 calories, only 8 grams of fat, and a Points value of 6. I don't know about the Weight Watcher's Point system, so not sure if 6 is good or bad. Something just doesn't seem right when pasta is part of my diet, but I would eat this even if not worried about the calories and fat.

They offer three meals with turkey, but my favorite is Turkey Medallions with Mushroom Gravy. It has only 200 calories, 10 grams of fat, and a Points value of 4. Mostly because I like the green beans as a side, the turkey is the same in all three meals. If you like mashed potatoes with a little kick, the Slow-Roasted Turkey Breast has garlic-herb potatoes.

Frozen Diet Meals - A Simple Review!

Finally I would recommend any of the meals with macaroni and cheese, my favorite being the Salisbury Steak. It has 250 calories, only 4.5 grams of fat, and a Points value of 5. Something about Salisbury steak that says frozen dinner. It has really great gravy and I repeat the macaroni and cheese alone is worth the purchase. I think I have pasta issues.

If I had to recommend against any of the meals I would suggest you steer away from the Tuna Noodle Gratin. It has 260 calories, only 7 grams of fat, and a Points value of 5. This is actually a great tasting and filling meal. The problem is that when it is microwaved the whole office will smell like tuna fish. In a way that it will not go unnoticed by your colleagues. I say keep this one at home.

In summary, I would not let the low prices fool you. Weight Watchers Smart Ones food is delicious, filling, and economical. I have tried some other more expensive diet meals, but to me none are so much better that they demand a higher price. 2. It had to be easy, with minimal planning.
3. It had to get fast results
4. It had to include treats.
5. It had to have an easy maintenance program.
6. It had to be satisfying.
7. It had to provide a support community.
8. It had to be portable (grab it and go).
9. It had to be tasty.
10. It couldn't involve a "cleansing" supplement.

The only type of diet that met our needs was a "meal replacement" diet that had a "high protein" treat it's core substitute. However wasn't was CHEAP and didn't have a support community. But other criteria was met so...we started on...yes, a fad diet. We stuck rigidly to the plan for one week, even the though the 'satisfying' part wasn't close to true. We then, calorie for calorie, found low fat 'real meal" substitutes to add variety after our initial diet period. Eventually we cut costs more, when made our own "bake at home" diet bars that to this day continue to be our "safety net". But, through the pain we lost weight and learned some valuable lessons about the benefits for us of the "meal replacement" diet.

1. It gets you to do something!(most people fail because they never try. You can start it easily)
2. It gets you to feel comfortable with hunger.(take control of your hunger and don't be a slave to flavor)
3. It gets you to realize what you've been stuffing into your face.(most of us eat mindlessly)
4. It gets you to cut out fast food(usually not part of any diet)
5. It gets you to change what you've been stuffing into your face.(or at least how much)
6. It gets you to clean the crap out of your pantry.(you'll do this while you're caught up in the moment)
7. It teaches you discipline. (Most require some 'first week' week routine)
8. It's cheap!(meal replacement bars are cheap compared to junk food, and buying diet meals)
9. You know when you are cheating.(If you aren't eating the bar, you are cheating, no rationalizing)
10 You have a safety net to return to.(if you fall off the wagon, just start eating bars again)
11. It satisfies your desire for a Treat.(most people like sweets and need a dessert-like substitute for long term success)
12. It's flexible.(once you see success, you can replace them with the same calorie count, low fat 'real meal'.

Must I go on? Look, I'm here to get you to do something. Meal replacement diets are convenient, relatively cheap in the short term, and they work well enough to give you the success you need to get you motivated. They can be tailored to your lifestyle. Now of course for your vegetable soup diet you can also add your own cut up fresh vegetables. I make a tomato soup this way and then throw in fresh broccoli and bits of green pepper. This is not only good, but amazingly filling for a vegetable soup diet! You can also add in some fresh herbs or spices and you have a very unique, tasty, and filling vegetable soup diet that you'd never find in a can.

4 (6 oz.) cans tuna, drained
1 lemon, juiced (optional)
2 cups mayonnaise
4 stalks celery, diced
1/2 cup sweet pickle relish

In a bowl, combine the tuna, lemon juice, mayonnaise, celery and pickle relish. Mix together well and refrigerate until ready to serve.

1 (7 oz.) can white tuna, drained and flaked
6 tablespoons mayonnaise or salad dressing

1/8 teaspoon dried minced onion flakes

1 tablespoon dried parsley
1 teaspoon dried dill weed

Directions

You can do a lot more with tuna salad than make sandwiches. This healthy recipe features albacore tuna, fresh green beans, Northern beans, black olives and hard boiled eggs.

3/4 pound green beans, trimmed and snapped in half
1 (12 oz.) can solid white albacore tuna, drained
1 (16 oz.) can Great Northern beans, drained and rinsed
1 (2.25 oz.) can sliced black olives, drained
1/4 medium red onion, thinly sliced
1 teaspoon dried oregano
6 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
3 tablespoons lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon finely grated lemon zest
Salt and pepper to taste
4 large hard cooked eggs, peeled and quartered

Directions

Place green beans, 1/3 cup water and a large pinch of salt into a medium skillet. Cover, turn heat on high and bring water to a boil.

Once the beans start to steam, set the timer and cook until tender and crisp (about 5 minutes. Note: do not let the skillet run dry). Immediately dump the beans into a lipped cookie sheet that is lined with paper towels. Let cool.

In a bowl, combine the tuna, olives and onion.

In another bowl, whisk together the oregano, oil, lemon juice and zest. Pour over the tuna mixture; gently stirring. Add salt and pepper to taste. Arrange a portion of the tuna salad, green beans and hard cooked eggs onto 4 plates.

3 Day Tuna Fish Diet Review

Well like most people I had put a little weight on over the winter and decided to try and take a bit off. I only needed to lose about 10 pounds or so to get to my normal weight so as silly as it seemed I decided to give the 3 day tuna fish diet a try. I figured it was quick and not to complicated so no harm done if it didn't work. So off I went to the grocery store with my shopping list.

For those who have never heard of this diet, basically it involves eating tuna every day at one meal and your suppose to be able to lose about 10 pounds which was right in my sweet spot. You can find several variations of it online, you may have even had it sent to you via email spam. I must say I did modify it a bit and ate tuna every day at lunch even though on day 3 I was suppose to eat it a dinner, but other than that I ate what the diet told me to. I am sure this had no drastic effect on my results.

Diet

My first day of the 3 day tuna fish diet was very easy as it hardly seemed like a diet at all. Not sure what this says about my normal eating habits. On the second day I did become a little hungry though as it felt like I had missed a meal some where. By the third day though I was hungry and very sick of tuna, I was not bothered by it to much as I knew it was pretty much going to be over soon.

The Results

I had checked my weight on the morning I began the 3 day tuna fish diet before breakfast so I waited till the morning of day 4 before breakfast to check the results. As I stepped on the scale with my stomach growling in anticipation I was expecting great things, well net result was I lost 2.5 pounds. That is probably the same as I would of lost if I had just restricted my diet a little over the 3 day period. It wasn't that difficult to stick to but don't really think the results are more than you get with just healthy eating. In the past the Dean Ornish diet is the diet I have had the most success with but it is very hard to stick to.

Chicken Salad Recipes - Chicken Macaroni Salad

Here is a basic chicken salad recipe that's suitable for lunch, dinner or a potluck meal.

1 7oz. pkg. Creamette elbow macaroni

1 1/2 to 2 pounds chicken breast

1 small red onion, diced

1 green bell pepper

1 celery stalk, chopped

Salt and Pepper to taste

2 boiled eggs, chopped

Mayonnaise

Frozen peas

Directions

Cut up vegetables. Cook the noodles and add the frozen peas at the last 3 minutes of the boiling noodles. Drain and rinse with cold water.

Add vegetable, mayonnaise, noodles and peas then the chicken. Using the canned chicken, add the water from the can. Add at the end with the rest so it does not break up too much. You'll have to add more mayonnaise as it soaks up about 1 to 2 hours later.

If using cooked chicken, add onion, celery together until done. Cool cooked chicken; dice. Add salt and salad dressing or mayonnaise. Add chopped eggs on top. Garnish with paprika.

The difference between Chinese chicken salad and the regular version is the addition of fruit, nuts and chow mein noodles.

1 (15 oz.) can chunk pineapple, drained

1 (11 oz.) can mandarin orange sections, drained

2 tablespoons onion, grated

1 cup celery, chopped

1 cup mayonnaise

1 tablespoon prepared mustard

In a large bowl, combine chicken, pineapple, celery, oranges, olives, bell pepper, and onion. Blend mayonnaise and mustard. Toss gently with chicken. Cover and chill several hours. Just before serving, mix in chow mein noodles. Turn salad onto lettuce lined salad plate. Serve with crackers.
